Private Group Cooking Classes

This is a great option for cooks who don’t fit into the public class age range, and/or families with younger children who would love to get more savvy in the kitchen. A private cooking class is also a great fit for smaller scouting troops looking to earn badges or homeschooling groups looking for enrichment opportunities.

Cook Count: My kitchen can accommodate 12 cooks. Age range is most suited for kids 8 and up for independent cooking. Younger kids who would like to cook require adult assistance. Everyone must be included in the head count to ensure we have the elbow room needed but inquire with me prior should you have many younger cooks.

Teamwork: The cooks make everything themselves. cooks will work in teams of 2 to prepare recipes. This encourages collaboration and allows them to share the cooking experience.

Step-by-Step Guidance: Each team will follow clear instructions and hands-on demonstrations, ensuring everyone is involved and learning.

Breaks: Short breaks will be given as needed, allowing kids to burn off some energy, play, and reset their cooking stations.

Food/Drinks: Substantial food will take time to prepare. Basic light snacks, water and lemonade are always available throughout the event for the cooks. We make enough food for everyone to eat and hopefully a little more to take home to share.

Allergies and Dietary Restrictions: I can accommodate most dietary restrictions with advance notice, so your menu can be a perfect recipe for everyone. It’s best to choose dishes that can be easily modified for any major restrictions. To keep every guest safe at the table, each participant must submit a waiver. No accommodations can be made for restrictions we don’t know about, so all waivers must be submitted in advance. Menus can be changed up to a few days in advance.

Event Fee, Duration and Additional Details

Event Fee: $550 for up to 12 cooks

Duration: 2.5 hours

Location: Saranap neighborhood of Walnut Creek

Weather Considerations: Keep in mind that the kitchen is located outdoors. It is generally comfortable under the pavilion in summer weather or light spring rains. However, sometimes weather conditions may require an event to be adjusted, postponed, or canceled. Wind presents the greatest challenge during rain and may make it impractical to be celebrating outdoors. In such cases, collaboratively, we will make the decision to proceed, adjust timing, postpone, or cancel the event. If an event is canceled due to weather, the deposit will be fully refunded. Most weather-related decisions are typically made once reliable forecasts are available, generally within 10 days of the scheduled event.

To Get Started

Scroll through the calendar to view available dates. Dates are not reserved more than 90 days in advance.

You may secure your date immediately with a $100 deposit, or feel free to reach out with your interest or questions. Weekend dates do disappear quickly but I’m happy to place a 3-business-day courtesy hold on your preferred date while you decide if it’s the right recipe for your group.

I’m always happy to see if we can adjust the timing of your event slightly but it does depend on the demand of the day. Weekends are the most difficult to modify. On the bright side, Weekdays are always easy as pie for timing flexibility! I still encourage you to ask!

If you need to select a different date from the one you have secured, let me know. Your deposit may be applied to any other available date—no need to start from scratch, we can just swap ingredients!

Once your date is secured, we can start cooking up the details and planning your menu! Just secure a date and then we can pick a skill set from the class repertoire. Don't see a particular skill set? Just ask!
